NBA and NHL shaping up
Astros cheating scandal not going away
We took a little longer break than usual with the Professor being sidelined by the flu after attending a Devil’s game. That what he gets for betting against the home team.
As MLB gets under way the Commissioner’s handling of the Astro’s sign stealing scandal isn’t going away any time soon. Last week actor Chazz Palminteri, who wrote and starred in “A Bronx Tale” called into the Fan radio station and stated that as an expert on the Mob, the Commish shouldn’t have granted immunity to the whole team. He stated that no prosecutor would ever grant an entire crime family immunity to find out what crimes they were committing. He reasoned that you only needed to grant immunity to one or two and you would still find out what crimes were being committed. Supposedly, the immunity was bargained for with the players union, which apparently didn’t consult with THE PLAYERS!! MLB supposedly granted immunity to avoid dragging the controversy on with all the grievances that would be filed by the players’ union. Well, guess what, you failed.
Because if they had, you wouldn’t be having all of the players complaining and expressing their outrage at the Astro’s behavior. Including virtually every big name in the sport not on the Astro’s or the Red Sox. Aaron Judge was robbed of the MVP and stated as much, and Giancarlo Stanton said he could have hit 80 home runs instead of 59 if he knew what pitch was coming. Mike Trout and other stars have all said the championship should be taken away.
As we predicted a few weeks ago there is even an over/under line on how many times an Astro’s player gets plunked. I believe 89.5 is the number, or roughly one batter hit every other game. I think after a bunch of times at the start of the season, there will be an edict of immediate ejection for obvious intentional hitting of Astro’s batters.
Regardless, it was absurd for them to not suffer any repercussions for cheating their way to a World Championship and the Commissioner bungled the handling of it only to add to it with later explanations, including calling the Championship just a piece of metal! With such incompetence, you would think he works for the Mets.
Baseball season totals always a fun bet and when they get posted we will discuss them. In the meantime, there are actually some people, known as degenerates, who actually be on spring training games. In fact, one of them is sitting next to me. How on earth do you bet on a game where the outcome doesn’t matter? You know you shouldn’t be betting on baseball if the game can end in a tie.
This year we will see the new rule that a relief pitcher must face 3 batters. I personally don’t like it. If you really wanted to pick up the pace of play, you make the batters stay in the batter’s box. The rule is on the books, but not enforced.
NBA: The Milwaukee Bucks clinched a playoff birth earlier than any team ever. That’s hard to believe considering some great teams of the past, such as the Bulls with Jordan and some Laker teams and most recently the Golden State Warriors. The Bucks are obviously the favorites to win the title at +230 with the Lakers next closest at +300. Unlike hockey, one of the best baseball teams usually prevails, so now might be the time to bet. Now would also be the time to visit us at www.thelinebreakers.com as we continue to add content and then click on Fanduel to check out the futures odds. Not just for NBA, but NHL also.
By the way, are the Knicks going to suck forever, or is there a chance they have a plan to improve?
NHL: Has their futures posted as well: The current favorite to win the Stanley Cup is the Boston Bruins, +650 with the Tampa Bay Lightning at +750. Coop previously made his pick known as being the Pittsburgh Penguins @ +1250 (So, $100 gets you $650 and so on.)
We are in the process of compiling a series of videos on the fundamentals of wagering on sports, fantasy contests and casino games. So, check back soon as they should be posted in the near future. The initial videos will be an introduction to each type of betting and then get more in depth as they progress. We are hoping to have some guests on to discuss the areas they know best, like the lady who keeps beating The Professor in fantasy football!!!
